VIETNAM VETERANS’ DAY 2014
Due to the inclement weather (over 100mil of rain) we had to move the service from the
Vietnam War Memorial to the Auditorium in Mittagong RSL Club. Many thanks to the
Club for putting us up at short notice. This is the first time we have done this but it was
a good move – no mud, rain or wind.
The attendees at the 1stAustralian Reinforcement Unit reunion, which was held in the
Highlands over the weekend, helped swell our numbers to about 200.
The indoor service went very smoothly and was well received by all.
Our Guest Speaker was Pat Heffernan who during his 14 years in the army, served the
Special Air Services Regiment in Afghanistan. Our School Speaker was Nicholas Antoniak
from Oxley College presented a different view on the outcome of the Vietnam War.
